Research Portfolio: Past Projects

“Retargeting Mid-Life and Older Smokers” (named: Project 50 Plus)

Principal Investigator: Deborah J. Ossip-Klein, Ph. D.

Agency: National Cancer Institute

The major goals of this competing continuation grant are to examine the effectiveness of retargeting mid-life and older smokers who have had a recent failed quit attempt. Based on results of a past project (Project 50), the relative effectiveness of proactive telecounseling with a strong focus on pharmacotherapy and requiting as adjuncts to a manual + hotline (compared to usual care) intervention will be assessed for 1200 smokers in a 10-15 county area. This is a follow up to Project 50.
