The type of clothing you wear should correlate with the type of weather you train in. Light colors and lightweight clothes work best in hot weather, and layers are necessary in
cold weather.
Tips:
Try to wear light- or bright-colored clothing when running so drivers may see you.
When running at night, wear reflective gear (bibs, tape, jackets, shirts, etc.).
Fabric choices: technical, breathable material that dries quickly. Cotton as an inner layer tends to hold sweat, which can make you wet and cold on a cold and warm day.
Don’t forget the sunscreen.
Cold weather gear recommendations: polypropylene shirt, lightweight windbreaker jacket, mittens, tights, balaclava, earband. As for layers, the inner layer should be material that
wicks perspiration away from the skin (i.e. polypropylene); the middle layer should be for insulation and absorbing moisture (cotton); the outer layer should protect against wind and moisture (nylon).
Wear socks to protect your feet.
A hat may be used for sun protection in the warm weather and to prevent heat loss in cold weather.
